LAMAR ADOT THOMAS ANNOUNCES AURA 2, THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED FOLLOW UP TO HIS 2018 BREAKTHROUGH ALBUM
17 track album arrives September 19, 2026, marking eight years of growth, evolution, reflection, and a return to the feeling that started it all
DALLAS, TX September 2026 Eight years after introducing a new chapter of his career with Aura, independent hip-hop artist Lamar Adot Thomas returns to the project that helped define his Dallas journey with Aura 2, arriving September 19, 2026.
Originally released on October 4, 2018, Aura marked Lamar Adot Thomas' first album following his move from New Orleans to Dallas, Texas. The project became a major turning point in his career, helping establish his presence in Dallas and expanding his identity as an artist.
More than an album, the Aura era became a recognizable part of Lamar's brand. His signature bright orange hoodie became closely associated with the project and his self-marketing approach, so much so that the orange hoodie would eventually become the inspiration for an album of its own.
Now, eight years later, Lamar revisits that era with Aura 2.
Rather than attempting to recreate the past, Aura 2 acknowledges it and brings back the “before Hurricane Katrina” feeling" a connection to an earlier version of himself, his roots, and the experiences that helped shape the man and artist he would become.
The 17-track album reflects Lamar's growth as an artist and as a person, revisiting ideas, concepts, and elements from the original Aura while presenting them through the perspective of who he has become in 2026.
"Aura 2 is about growth," Lamar Adot Thomas explains. "I'm acknowledging things and concepts from the original Aura, but I'm looking at them from where I am now. Eight years changes a lot. I've grown, I've experienced more, and I've got a different perspective."
The album opens with “Kid From The South,” immediately grounding the project in Lamar's Southern identity before moving through themes of ambition, self-belief, struggle, relationships, healing, and personal evolution. “The Rappers Rapper,” “Blood On Me,” “Jumping Off Mountains,” “Dropping That Weight,” “Get That Back,” and “Gravity” continue to build a narrative around the pressure and responsibility that come with growth.
The project also revisits the emotional side of Lamar's journey. The Summer Love trilogy explores different dimensions of love and relationships, while “DnD Intro” and “DnD” reflect the need to disconnect from outside noise and protect one's energy. “Right Wrong Truth” continues the project's introspective thread, confronting the complicated spaces between perception, relationships, and personal truth.
The album's sole featured artist is Kaution Mr.700, appearing on “Shine.” Production throughout the project comes from Loop288, Nick B., and Ramen, with DJ Mo Pleaze providing curation.
For Lamar, Aura 2 represents more than the return of a title. It represents the ability to look back at a defining moment without being trapped by it. The album connects the artist he was in 2018 with the artist he has become in 2026.
It is a project built around the idea that growth does not mean abandoning who you were. Sometimes it means returning to that person, understanding what they were trying to say, and finally seeing the bigger picture.
With more than a decade in the music industry, countless performances, and a catalog spanning more than 15 albums, Lamar Adot Thomas continues to build his career on consistency, independence, and evolution.
Eight years after Aura helped establish his Dallas chapter, Aura 2 arrives as a reminder that the journey is still unfolding.
The aura never disappeared. It evolved.
